CERRUDO CLASSICO 2010 : WORDS AND MUSIC

Greetings from “Cerrudo: Classico”! After a one-year hiatus from the concert series circuit, we are back with another world-class production.

Cerrudo: Classico is a series featuring Premiere Classical Balladeer BO CERRUDO in concerts directed by award-winning stage and concert director Freddie Santos. He is accompanied by a 12-pc ensemble from the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Rodel Colmenar. Since its inception, Cerrudo: Classico has helped over 75 organizations and individuals in Metro Manila raise funds for their various beneficiaries and advocacies via sold-out concerts at the Teatrino in Greenhills -- “Cerrudo: Classico … Classic Ko” and “Cerrudo Classico: Songs From Stage And Screen” in 2006 and 2007, respectively, and at the Captain’s Bar of the Mandarin Oriental --“Love Around The World” in 2008.

Come May 2010, we shall be staging “Words And Music”, once again at the Teatrino in Greenhills, which you may utilize to raise funds for any of your chosen causes, or as an activity for corporate events, product launches or other special occasions. This new series shall feature songs written by 10 of the greatest songwriter/composers of all time such as Burt Bacharach, Barry Manilow, Lennon/McCartney, Rodgers & Hammerstain, and George Canseco to name a few, masterfully integrated into different suites containing standards, songs from theater and cinema, OPM, and even light opera.

Manila Philharmonic Orchestra School of Music Opens @ Libis

The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra has finally realized its long-time vision of training new generations of musicians via a school of music.  Actually for the past decade now, Rodel Colmenar, founder of MPO, has dedicated himself to his advocacy of sharing the gifts of music to others.  He, along with committed MPO musicians, did this in different venues, sometimes even in his home.
 
In time for summer is the opening of MPO School of Music in a premier location. The school’s facilities include 3 medium sized studios for group lesson, 4 small studios for individual lessons, and one big studio for the music program for tots that can also accommodate bands, orchestra and dance rehearsals.
 
Top balladeer Bo Cerrudo, who apparently shares his dreams and passion, partners with Rodel in this venture. “Our mission is to create and perform music and to apply and impart musical knowledge in all its diverse forms. We are committed to excellence in all scholarly, creative and pedagogical endeavors. We seek to provide the highest quality of professional training in music to students pursuing a broad variety of careers and offer artistic, cultural and intellectual enrichment to the communities beyond the studios.  Our faculty, students and staff will strive to embrace the bold ambitions and uncompromising standards that have been hallmarks of MPO through the years”
 
MPO School of Music offers a unique approach to music instruction.  Students learn individually and as part of the band. It is open to almost all ages-from 2yrs and up--and any skill level, from beginner to advanced. Lessons are customized for each student’s skill and comfort level and are a fun mix of individual guidance and group playing that is relaxing and no-pressure.  The emphasis is on enjoying oneself and playing for the pure pleasure of playing.
 
The essence of a great music school is its faculty.  All music lessons are taught by professional musicians with years of performing experience many of whom are from UST Conservatory of Music and UP College of Music.  Students can benefit from the intensity and focus of a conservatory-level music training combined with the broad academic offerings of a major university.
